2023’s Best Wellness Brands and Trends: January Edition!

SET ACTIVE
I am in love with everything at Set Active right now. I recently got a bodysuit in black and it is SO comfortable and versatile. I also got their Lake Tahoe sweatpants and sweatshirt and it is so thick and cozy.

THERAGUN

I got a mini theragun for Christmas and it quickly became part of my every day routine. As a gym girlie, I am consistently recovering from hard workouts and having the theragun has been game changing for recovery. Lately, my routine has been using the Theragun when I wake up, since it helps warm up my muscles and it aids in recovery. Since I spend most of my day at my desk, I pause throughout my days to use it on my shoulders and upper back to relieve tension.

THORNE

Thorne is one of the only supplement brands I trust. Although I’m sure there are other reliable ones on the market, Thorne was recommended by Rhonda Patrick and Andrew Huberman and I would trust those two with my life, so this brand has been my go-to for supplements for a few months now. I recently got into (almost) daily Creatine supplementation because of a podcast I listened to this podcast with Peter Attia and Layne Norton, my kings.

LMNT

I have been supplementing with electrolytes for years. In college, I would drink pedialyte almost every weekend (lol) and then switched to Liquid IV because it was sold in bulk at Costco, but I never loved the high sugar content. I had been hearing about LMNT and decided to give it a try this month. I’m hooked. I like every flavor but my favorites have been watermelon salt and raspberry salt. I have about one a day after a workout and it makes a noticeable difference to my energy levels.

HAIR OILING

Hair oiling got a lot of hype on social media lately, so I decided to give it a try. I mix argan oil with a bit of rosemary oil and leave it in my hair for at least an hour, or often overnight. I didn’t think it would do me any favors because I have oily hair naturally, but it has made my hair so much silkier. It also feels great to massage the oil into my scalp with a scalp massaging tool. SO relaxing. I’ve been set in my skincare routine for a while, but I’ve never paid much attention to my hair. Paying attention to my scalp and hair health has been a game changer for me this month.

LIFTING STRAPS

This one’s for my gym girlies. My not-so-great grip strength was keeping me from doing as many reps and sets as I knew I was capable of, so I wasn’t able to progressive overload the way I wanted to. I finally got lifting straps and although I’ve only used them once, they made a huge difference for me. I could deadlift more than I have ever deadlifted and it felt great. This is also a great tip for my girls with long nails, since it stops your nails from digging into your palms. It also prevents blisters! Cannot recommend these enough.
